These verses have the feeling of a transition. They kind of sum up the previous verses and introduce the next sections.
Jesus has been talking a lot about the kingdom. I think it’s fair to associate the kingdom with treasure in heaven. Thus, Jesus is not totally deprecating life on earth. He asked us to pray for the coming of the kingdom, not for the destruction of earth.
But a focus os stockpiling earthly goods is way off. In the long run, there is no treasure there. In the short run, it is a bad focus.
People show their orientation by how they focus their lives. A discerning person has no trouble seeing what matters to the people around us. And they have no trouble seeing what matters to us.
